Week 9
Another week completed! I feel like the spring semester is right around the corner already. This week definitely had some fun events that don't pop up in the calendar too much. On Tuesday I had a meeting with my fellow Community Coordinator, Sage, and Dean Lightner to talk about some of the things we are thinking about bringing to UCBA to get our students more connected with service work. It was really cool to be able to have an open conversation with our Dean and have her be so open to all of our input!
On Thursday Sage and I were able to take a tour of Operation Give Back, an outreach center for families and students in need in Sycamore. From the outside it may not look like much, but once you get inside it is really amazing. They have books galore, large spaces where students can come in and do their work, and even a giant food pantry that they open up the community every Wednesday. I really admire all of the time and care they provide for different families in the area and I am really excited to be able to work with them the rest of this school year.
